Self-worth is about how you think about yourself and this usually dictates how you live your life and the decisions you make, as well as how you view other people. The more positive you feel about yourself, the higher your self-worth will be and the more negative you feel, the lower your self-worth will be.
The world we live in constantly highlights our insecurities and leads us to feel inadequate and unsatisfied. Symptoms of low self-worth can include feelings of worthlessness, incompetency and be fearful which can all result in being drawn to a destructible relationship and having unrealistic goals. Low self-worth may be formed from negative experiences in life, such as a troubled relationship, upbringing or a negative situation in life.
Your self-worth is central to who you are and changing your negative self worth to a positive self worth will mean taking a hard look at yourself and changing regular thoughts and behaviours, which will take time, effort and patience on your part.
How I Can Help You
Be U Counselling Service, based in the Poole, Bournemouth and Dorset can help you to feel good about yourself and will help you set realistic goals about yourself and others. Through thinking positively about yourself you can learn to develop your talents and abilities, learning to praise yourself, trust yourself and like yourself. Counselling can help you to explore the views that you have about yourself and others around you, as well as challenge your thoughts and help you to put them into perspective. After all, this is your life and you deserve to be you, without any judgement.
I offer a 30 minute, no obligation session, where you can come and meet me, ask me questions or use it as a short counselling session to get a feel for what counselling is like and whether it is something that you want to commit to. This session will also give you an opportunity to discover if you feel comfortable working with me and are able to build a therapeutic relationship with me, which is very important for counselling to take place. If after the 30 minutes, you are happy and would like to commit to the counselling sessions, I will book you in for an assessment session where we will set out a therapeutic contract.
